MacKenzie Freed
Celebrating her five-year “crowniversary” in 2023 (She was Miss California 2018), she also graduated with honors from Boston University School of Law. Now back in California, she’s passed the Bar Exam and begun her career in complex civil litigation at a global law firm. A self-professed Disney aficionado, MacKenzie relishes being near Disneyland. Together with her husband David, whom she met on the pageant circuit, they share a deep love for Disney, even naming their two dogs after Disney characters. Sacramento holds a special place in her heart as the city where she successfully passed the California Bar Exam.
Brianne Norberg
Bri Norberg, with a decade of entrepreneurship under her belt, is the founder of Women of Sacramento, the leading chapter of Powered by Women. She champions local female entrepreneurs, encouraging networking and empowerment within the community. As a business coach, Bri focuses on aiding online coaches to expand their businesses and assume leadership positions, aiming to impact their communities and attain financial independence. Her dedication lies in empowering women and enhancing her community through her nonprofit initiatives and coaching endeavors.
Parlisha Watts
Parlisha is Owner and Director of Parlisha’s School ofthe Arts. She opened her school in 1997, in Houston, Texas. Parlisha holds a B.A. and A.A. in Theatre from theUniversity of the Pacific, and San Joaquin Delta College. She is passionate about producing Christian based musical plays and pageants. Parlisha’s Schoolof theArts offers Theatre, Etiquette, Praise Dance, and Pageant Training. Parlisha is a 5-time pageant winner. She was the first African American Miss San Joaquin County, and first African American to place 2nd runner up to Miss California which is a preliminary to the Miss America Pageant. She also won the titles of Ms. Black Texas, Ms. Black USA of the Metroplex Pageant System. She was Mrs. United America, and Ms. United America Royal in 2015. She is the Local, State, and National Pageant Director of America’s VirtuousWoman’s Pageant Which she founded in 2019.
Jim Kiniris
Since moving to Sacramento in 1991 for his business major at California State University Sacramento, Jim has built a life deeply embedded in the community. Starting his career as a Financial Advisor at Northwestern Mutual, he’s also a family man, married to Lara with two kids, Peter and Katie. Active in both the Greek and running communities, Jim has contributed as a coach and board member for East Sacramento Little League. He’s currently serving on the Junior Achievement of Sacramento board, advocating for youth workforce readiness and financial literacy, a cause he’s supported since 2002 by volunteering in classrooms. Additionally, Jim invests time in his fraternity as a district advisor, continuing to give back across various facets of his life.
Riley Carroll
Riley, from Roseville, is a familiar face on Fox 40 News in Sacramento. With a B.A. in Journalism and American Studies from California State University Fullerton and an M.A. in Communication Management from the University of Denver, she’s dedicated to her community through her journalism, volunteer efforts, and mentorship. Riley has consistently contributed to the communities she’s been part of across the U.S. She’s especially excited to learn about the service initiatives of young women representing Sacramento County, admiring their unique and meaningful ways of giving back.

Where to start
To become a candidate, you must…
- Be between the ages of 18 and 28 for the Miss America system
- Be between the ages of 13 and 17 for the MAOTeen system
- Be a United States citizen
- Meet residency requirements for competing in your respective city or state
- Be able to meet the time commitment and job responsibilities as set forth by the local, state and national competition(s) in which you compete
